The perfume artists behind Eau de Dubai
Three fragrances. Three IFF perfumers. Every composition signed by the person who built it.
In short
Eau de Dubai’s When East Meets West collection was composed by three perfumers from IFF: Dominique Ropion, who worked on Endless Love; Kristina Dineko, who created Strong Dreams; and Tanguy Guesnet, who created Delicate Touch. Each fragrance is named, signed and traceable to the person who built it.

- Three perfumers, three fragrances, one collection: Endless Love, Strong Dreams and Delicate Touch.
- All three work for or trained at IFF, one of the four largest fragrance houses in the world.
- Dominique Ropion has been an IFF Master Perfumer since 2018, credited with La Vie Est Belle, Portrait of a Lady, Carnal Flower, Alien and Flowerbomb.
- Kristina Dineko is a fine fragrance perfumer at IFF Neuilly, specialising in natural raw materials.
- Tanguy Guesnet trained at ISIPCA and at IFF’s own perfumery school.
- Every page here names the perfumer, their house and their verifiable prior work, so a claim can be checked rather than taken on trust.
Meet the three perfume artists

Dominique Ropion
IFF · Master Perfumer since 2018Endless Love€190Fresh & CitrusFour decades of technical authority, from Ysatis in 1984 to Portrait of a Lady and Carnal Flower. For Eau de Dubai he built citrus and almond over cedarwood, vanilla and amber — warm, nutty and close to the skin.

Kristina Dineko
IFF Neuilly · Fine fragrance perfumerStrong Dreams€160Orientals & AmberA raw-materials specialist, also behind Alchemist’s Musc Laiteux and Musc Vanille. Hers is the composition built on contrast: bright acidulous fruit set directly against dark patchouli, vanilla and benzoin.

Tanguy Guesnet
IFF · ISIPCA-trained perfumerDelicate Touch€160Oud & WoodyA contemporary nose who lets one material dominate — Obvious Plum Cream, D’Orsay Holy Berry. Here he puts pink pepper and lychee on top of myrrh, cinnamon, patchouli and labdanum: the driest of the three.
In the lab

Left: ingredient bottles on the bench. Right: Endless Love and Strong Dreams in their formulation bottles. Each fragrance was built from named materials that were weighed and recorded — which is what a perfumer credit refers back to.
Why does Eau de Dubai name its perfumers?
Most fragrance sold on the Arabic and oriental shelf carries no author. A bottle arrives with a note pyramid, an evocative name and nothing to connect it to a person, a method or a professional reputation. The buyer is asked to trust the packaging.
Naming the perfumer removes that ask. A signed composition can be checked: you can look up Dominique Ropion, read what else he has built, and judge whether that record matches the fragrance in your hand. It also changes the commercial relationship. A brand that publishes the name of the person who formulated a product has accepted accountability for it, because the name is attached to a career that a bad formula would damage.
This is the same logic that governs the rest of this site. Eau de Dubai publishes the composition, the size, the olfactory family and the creator of each fragrance in the When East Meets West collection rather than describing it in adjectives alone.
Who are the three perfume artists?
| Perfumer | House and title | Fragrance | Size and price | Best known for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dominique Ropion | IFF, Master Perfumer since 2018 | Endless Love | 55 mL, €190 | La Vie Est Belle, Portrait of a Lady, Carnal Flower, Alien, Flowerbomb |
| Kristina Dineko | IFF Neuilly, fine fragrance perfumer | Strong Dreams | 55 mL, €160 | Alchemist Musc Laiteux and Musc Vanille, Le Bonheur Prime 26 |
| Tanguy Guesnet | IFF, perfumer; trained at ISIPCA and IFF’s perfumery school | Delicate Touch | 55 mL, €160 | Obvious Plum Cream, Kakigori White Crush, D’Orsay Holy Berry |
The three were not chosen for the same reason. Ropion brings four decades of technical authority to a composition built for longevity and balance. Dineko brings a raw-materials specialism to a fragrance whose whole effect depends on the contrast between a bright top and a dark base. Guesnet brings a contemporary, contrast-driven style to a resinous oriental that had to feel modern rather than traditional.
What does “When East Meets West” actually mean?
The collection’s premise is a technical one, not a decorative one. Gulf perfumery and European fine perfumery work to different conventions: Gulf compositions are typically base-heavy, built for hours of presence and worn generously; European fine fragrance is typically structured around a legible top-to-base evolution and a controlled trail.
Each of the three fragrances is a European-trained perfumer composing within Gulf expectations of richness and longevity. Endless Love resolves into cedarwood, vanilla and amber. Strong Dreams sets fresh fruit against dark patchouli, vanilla and benzoin. Delicate Touch closes on patchouli and labdanum. All three are base-heavy by European standards and legible by Gulf ones, which is the point of the exercise.
All three are unisex. All three are 55 mL. Two sit in Eau de Dubai’s Orientals & Amber family, and Endless Love is classified under Fresh & Citrus despite its amber base, because of how it opens.
How do the three fragrances differ?
| Endless Love | Strong Dreams | Delicate Touch | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Perfumer | Dominique Ropion | Kristina Dineko | Tanguy Guesnet |
| Top | Citrus, almond | Luminous, acidulous fruits | Pink pepper, lychee |
| Heart | Jasmine, black pepper | White floral bouquet | Myrrh, cinnamon |
| Base | Cedarwood, vanilla, amber | Dark patchouli, vanilla, benzoin | Patchouli, labdanum |
| Family | Fresh & Citrus | Orientals & Amber | Orientals & Amber |
| Character | Warm, nutty-amber, skin-close | High contrast: bright fruit over a dark base | Dry, resinous, spiced oud |
| Price (55 mL) | €190 | €160 | €160 |
If you want the warmest and most wearable of the three, start with Endless Love. If you want the most dramatic, Strong Dreams. If you want oud, and the driest and most traditionally oriental of the three, Delicate Touch.
What does a perfumer credit tell you that a note list does not?
A note list describes intent. A perfumer credit describes capability.
Two fragrances can publish an identical pyramid — pink pepper, myrrh, cinnamon, patchouli, labdanum — and smell nothing alike, because the pyramid says nothing about the quality of the materials, the proportions, or how many iterations went into the balance. What a credit tells you is who made those decisions and what else they have made.
This is also why Eau de Dubai does not describe its fragrances as versions of, or alternatives to, other brands’ perfumes. A composition signed by the perfumer who built it is the opposite claim: it is an original with an author.
Where do these perfumers sit in the industry?
IFF is one of the four largest fragrance and flavour companies in the world, and the house behind a significant share of the fine fragrance on a European department-store counter. A perfumer employed there has access to a captive materials library, an evaluation team and a formulation lab — the infrastructure that separates a professional composition from a blended one.
The Master Perfumer title that Ropion holds is not an honorific the holder awards themselves: IFF conferred it in 2018, and very few perfumers in the world carry it. ISIPCA, where Guesnet trained, is the Versailles school founded by Jean-Jacques Guerlain and the standard formal entry route into the profession.
