## Who is Dominique Ropion?

Ropion was born in Paris in 1955 and came into perfumery sideways, while studying
physics. He trained at Roure Bertrand Dupont in Grasse — the school that is now
Givaudan’s — and joined IFF in 2000, where he still works.

His first credited fragrance was _Yardley London Lace_ in 1982. What followed is
one of the broadest bodies of work in the industry, because it runs in two directions
at once. On the mainstream side: _Givenchy Ysatis_ (1984), _Givenchy Amarige_ (1991),
_Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb_ (2004), _Calvin Klein Euphoria_ (2005), _Paco Rabanne
Lady Million_ (2010), _Lancôme La Vie Est Belle_ (2012), _Paco Rabanne Olympéa_ (
2015), and _Thierry Mugler Alien_. On the niche side, for Editions de Parfums Frédéric
Malle: _Vétiver Extraordinaire_ (2002), _Carnal Flower_ (2005) and _Portrait of
a Lady_ (2010).

That second list is the one perfumers cite. _Carnal Flower_ carries one of the highest
tuberose concentrations ever put into a commercial fragrance; _Portrait of a Lady_
is built on an overdose of Turkish rose and patchouli. Both are reference points
for how much material a composition can hold before it collapses — which is a technical
reputation, not a marketing one.

## Why does his name matter on an Arabic-oriental fragrance?

Gulf and Arabic perfumery is base-heavy by convention. Compositions are built to
last, worn generously, and judged on their trail. European fine perfumery is built
on legible structure: a top that reads immediately, a heart that turns, a base that
lands.

A perfumer with Ropion’s record is hired precisely for that second skill. _Endless
Love_ has to deliver the warmth and staying power an oriental buyer expects, while
still evolving in a way a European nose can follow. The difficulty is that the materials
which give longevity — amber, vanilla, cedarwood — also flatten a composition if
they are allowed to dominate early. Keeping an almond-citrus opening legible on
top of that base is the technical problem, and solving it is what forty years of
overdose work buys.

## How is Endless Love built?

  | Stage | Notes | What it does |
   | Top | Citrus, almond | A luminous opening with a soft, slightly nutty edge rather than a sharp citrus snap |
 | Heart | Jasmine, black pepper | Jasmine gives radiance; black pepper keeps it from turning sweet or purely floral |
 | Base | Cedarwood, vanilla, amber | Dry wood against smooth vanilla and amber: warm, skin-close, long |

The almond in the opening is the decision worth noticing. Citrus alone would evaporate
against that base and leave a gap. Almond is lactonic and slightly sweet, so it
bridges the bright top into the vanilla below, and the composition reads as one
continuous thing rather than two halves. Black pepper in the heart does the opposite
job: it cuts the sweetness so the amber base lands warm instead of gourmand.

Eau de Dubai classifies _Endless Love_ under **Fresh & Citrus** on the strength
of that opening, though its character over a full wear is closer to an amber-woody.
It is unisex, and leans slightly feminine.

## How does it compare with the other two creator fragrances?

  | | Endless Love | Strong Dreams | Delicate Touch |
   | Perfumer | Dominique Ropion | Kristina Dineko | Tanguy Guesnet |
 | Built on | Blend | Contrast | Dryness |
 | Top | Citrus, almond | Luminous, acidulous fruits | Pink pepper, lychee |
 | Base | Cedarwood, vanilla, amber | Dark patchouli, vanilla, benzoin | Patchouli, labdanum |
 | Character | Warm, nutty-amber, skin-close | High-contrast, dramatic | Dry, resinous, spiced |
 | Price (55 mL) | €190 | €160 | €160 |

_Endless Love_ is the warmest and the most wearable of the three, and the one to
start with if Arabic-oriental perfumery is new to you. Compare it with [Strong Dreams by Kristina Dineko](https://eaudd.com/perfume-artists/kristina-dineko/),
which is built on contrast rather than blend, and with [Delicate Touch by Tanguy Guesnet](https://eaudd.com/perfume-artists/tanguy-guesnet/),
which is drier and more resinous.

## Frequently asked questions

Who created Endless Love?

Eau de Dubai credits Endless Love to Dominique Ropion, an IFF Master Perfumer since
2018. He worked on the composition itself; this is not a name licensed to a finished
product.

What else has Dominique Ropion made?

Among others: La Vie Est Belle, Portrait of a Lady, Carnal Flower, Alien, Flowerbomb,
Amarige, Ysatis, Euphoria, Lady Million and Olympéa. His first credit was Yardley
London Lace in 1982 and his work continues through 2025.

What does Endless Love smell like?

Citrus and almond open it with a luminous, slightly nutty brightness. Jasmine and
black pepper form a floral-spicy heart. Cedarwood, vanilla and amber close it into
a warm, dry-sweet base that stays close to the skin.

Is Endless Love for men or women?

It is unisex. In character it leans slightly feminine, but it is not formulated
or sold as a women’s fragrance.

Why is Endless Love more expensive than the other two?

It is priced at €190 against €160 for Strong Dreams and Delicate Touch. The difference
is not bottle size: all three are 55 mL.

How long does it last?

The composition is base-heavy, built on cedarwood, vanilla and amber, which is the
structure used for long wear. This site does not publish a longevity figure it has
not measured on skin.
